Built-Ins & Finish Carpentry in Leander, TX

Finish carpentry is the work people notice without being able to say why. A media wall whose shelves line up with the window beside it reads as part of the house; the same wall an inch out reads as furniture pushed against it. The measuring is most of the job, and it happens before anything is cut.

How it works

  1. 01
Measure the space, not the drawing

Walls are rarely square and floors are rarely level. We measure what is actually there, which is why the finished piece sits tight to the wall.

  2. 02
    Design and written estimate

What it will look like, what it is made of, and what it costs — before anything is built.

  3. 03
    Build and install

Boxes built, scribed to the wall, fastened to framing, and trimmed so the joints disappear.

  4. 04
    Finish

Filled, sanded, caulked and painted or stained, and the room cleaned up.

Questions we get asked

How much does a built-in cost?

It depends on size, materials and whether it is painted or stained hardwood. A straightforward painted shelving wall and a walnut media wall with concealed lighting are very different numbers. You get the price in writing first.

Can you match the trim already in my house?

Usually, yes. Most builder trim profiles are still available, and where they are not we can get close enough that the join does not read. We check before quoting.

Do you do the lighting in a built-in?

We build the channels and the runs into the piece. The electrical work itself is performed by appropriately licensed electrical contractors we engage and manage, which is how it should be.

Painted or stained?

Painted hides joins and suits most builder-grade rooms. Stained hardwood shows the grain and shows every mistake, so it costs more and takes longer. We will tell you which one fits what is already in the room.

How long does a built-in take?

Most are a few days on site once the material is in. Anything with a lot of doors, drawers or stain work takes longer.
